Ok,

So whats the smallest chainrings uou can get on a standard 105 5700 Chainset??

Currently set up as 50-34, but having tried out loaded panniers, well, people where right..

Could see it being an issue.. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I'm pretty sure you won't get less than a 34T, suspect they don't exist. What's the BCD?

Bigger cassette?

What woody says Nick. Bigger cassette would be wise.

Cheers All..

Much appreciated.

So I'm guessing I'd be better of with an MTB Chainset then?

You can get a 33t TA chainring but that's not going to make a huge amount of difference.

Assuming you've got double specific STi shifters on the bike? Not 100% if a roadie front mech will work with a mtb double chainset.

Fit a 9-speed MTB mech and a 36T cassette. That'll work with your 10-speed STIs.

I use an ultegra triple on my touring bike, 52-39-30 with an XT 34T cassette. Mostly on the flat and rolling climbs I can spin along on the 39' but when things get steeper I use the 30.

Back in the day touring bikes were sold with 42-52 cranksets ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
