I’ve just bought a Shimano GRX RX600 Gravel Chainset - 1x11 Speed to replace the FSA munter that was fitted from factory. I’ve found that the axle on the new shimano jobby is too short so the left hand arm won’t go onto the axle far enough.
It’s a 68mm shell with a Hope bottom bracket I had knocking about, all the spacers are in correctly.
Any idea why this would be?

Is it that you're using an MTB bottom bracket with a crankset designed for a road one.
Afaik road BBs have narrower cups?
If so try using less spacers on the BB.

Gives the correct spacers setup for each combination. Road in a 68mm shell needs significantly fewer spacers.
Or it might be the other way round 😆 either way I'm pretty sure MTB and road BBs are slightly different widths!

you can run the mtb bb without thr plastic tube
or buy a shorter tube from Hope
or cut 5mm out of the middle of the tube and tape the halves together

Hope cups are the same for road and MTB. It's just the central tube that is longer on the MTB version.
On Shimano, the mtb cups are slightly narrower than the road cups, by about a mil.
For GRX on a 68mm shell, you either need no spacers (if you run a Shimano road BB) or a couple of 1mm spacers (if you run a Shimano MTB or Hope BB)
