[#10254206]

Having gone super tough and changed my 30t front chainring for a 32t, my chainring bolts are too long.

The 30t ring had threaded holes, but the 32t needs both halves of the chainring bolt.

Is there a spacer i could/should use? or do i need different bolts?

thanks

Beener

Try track bolts, they should do the job.

Just short chainring bolts, get them online easy enough these days.

Raceface ones £2.49 a set at wiggle/crc

See if you can find the ones that use a hex head on the back instead off the awful slotted ones. Like these.

Just drill a 10mm hole in some scrap wood and slot the female ends in and file them.

Drill size might be wrong...

You get single speed chainring bolts which are shorter, Race Face do tabs (just spacers) to allow you  to use double chainring bolts with a single ring.

big file and a vice. You probably only need 2-3mm taken off. make sure you are able to chase the threads out afterwards

It’ll take as long to file the bolts as find and order what you need online.

I’ve assumed you have a file and a vice to hand 🙂

I'd use 2mm spacers (i.e. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/chainsets/alloy-chainring-spacers-20-mm-for-middle-outer-ring-pack-of-5 ) to get the same chainline as the 30T.

I ruined a ride with spacers, snapped one of the bolts and bent the chainring riding up San Marino.

Just get the proper bolts
