[#1788767]

To cut a long story short I run a Truvativ 24, 36 & 48T chainring combo on my HT as it doubles up as my commuter. I wanted my LBS to fit new middle & outer chainrings which was agreed with the mechanic, however after dropping the bike off the next day the LBS rang later on (another mechanic not the one I dealt with earlier) to say that for £10 more I could have a Shimano Deore chainset including BB fitted.

I said I run 24, 36 & 48 & if they did the same combination then to fit it, they said Yes they had that combination. After picking the bike up & getting home I checked & found that although the other chainrings were 36 & 48 the inner was a 26T 😕

I am going to speak to my LBS tomorrow to try to resolve this but I was wondering whether the Truvativ 24T chainring which is in excellent condition would fit on to the Shimano chainset?

Any help would be appreciated.

If it's got the same number of bolt holes at the same diameter, then there should* be no problem

But do you really think you'll notice the difference between 24/32, (guessing a bit on the rear gear there) and 26/32?

*I'm not promising that though!

Thanks tthew.

It does have the same 4 bolt holes so I think that it might actually fit. I'll speak to the LBS about it.

I'm a wimp & run a 34T rear cassette, that being said it is noticeable when I ride my other bike with a 22T inner ring that the hills are much easier, a 26T inner could be even harder on the hills.
