A friend of mine is having real issues with his newly bought Be-one bike from CRC. First had issues were the Disc brakes were too soft. Took it to halfords to fix that who didnt charge him for it as they had never bled disc brakes before. Interesting!!

He has one final annoying problem, the chain skips every 3 revolutions when he puts pressure on the cranks.
Very difficult to recommend stuff over the phone to him as he doesnt live anywhere near me. He says the gear change is smooth, it is just that it skips every so often in what ever gear he happens to be in.

Any suggestions??

sounds daft, bit check chainring is the right way round as shifting ramps can snag the chain if incorrectly fitted

stiff link?

approx 110 link chain, 32t chainring, approx every 3 1/2 revolution of cranks in middle ring.

stiff or twisted link in the chain? that would explain it being every 3 (ish) revolutions of the cranks as it would take that long for the troublesome link to come back round and over the top of the cassette (which is where you would notice it skipping if it was that).

It could be simply that the gears need setting up/adjusting properley = 5mins.

Or that the bike has been knocked and the derailleur hanger has been bent out of line = 10-15mins.

I've been having the same issue recently and thought it was a setup problem. There is a stiff link so hopefully that's my problem sorted..... thanks for the lesson.

yeh, stiff link or pin has popped on a link and your chain is about to rip your rear derailleur off 😉
