UPDATE: Reviews section refreshed, redesigned, searchable: Go take a look
I’ve had the trek fuel exe a few weeks and have seen all the tips online about hex key in the chainring bolt, but the trek/tq system doesn’t have that option, so far I’ve basically put the bike on the stand and lubed the chain forwards or awkwardly moved the chain/chainring with my fingers and got more lube on the floor than the chain. What am I missing what’s the trick or isn’t there one? For the uninitiated it looks like this. If the upload works…
Zip tie/velcro strap the crank arm to the chainring.
I use a basic stand that lifts the back wheel
Thanks I knew there’d be an obvious answer I hadn’t thought off, strap makes sense. Basic stand would also work although my old one would probably collapse under the weight of an e-bike!
Whilst leaning over the top of the bike (dropped down, torso against saddle), I just run the lube bottle along the top of the lower run of chain, then pick the back end of the bike up by the chainstay and turn the crank forwards until I'm on the unlubed bit of chain, then repeat a few more times until the whole chain is done.
Workstand and walk mode (if it has one?)
Just turn the bike upside down, has worked for all my e bikes over the last 10 years
I used to turn the bike upside down. But then I bought a cheap bike stand from Decathalon, which lifts the rear wheel. This doubles as a washing station. But I also use it for lubing the bike.
