Ceiling hooks as bike storage

Hello, I'm after a bit of advice on my garage storage set up. I recently mounted ceiling hooks into my garage roof, fairly large but cheap multipurpose hooks from Toolstation. They are covered in a synthetic plastic, but still quite hard. I hang my bikes off them with the rea wheel resting against the adjoining wall.ย

I make sure the hook isn't pressing against the spoke, but all the weight of the bike is against the hook body through the rim.

All rims are alloy, heaviest bike is about 16kg.

Should I be concerned at all about possible rim damage? If so, is there anything I should do to mitigate it? I was thinking bubble wrap or something on the hook to spread the load.ย

Thanks

Been doing this for years, no issues

the plastic has come away from the tip on some hooks, so they can be a little scratchy, but no other issues in 8 years +

Rubber hose from a car spares shop of the corresponding diameter to the hook helps protect rims from scratches (when the plastic wears). Otherwise your rim will be fine.ย

I had a steel tandem hanging from one for years which weighed about 22-23kgs. No problems or damage at allย
