Posted this before on the old forum. What is the best way people have found for carrying a DSLR that enables quick access?

It was brought up recently - strapped to the chest was I believe the preferred method for quick access.

I have a chest mounted pack at Chipps' suggestion, and find it really handy. Others don't like this method.

It's a Lowepro Nova Mini AW, though I think these may have been discontinued. Enough room for a Nikon D300 with 18-200 zoom

Richpips uses a chest mounted pack too.

Last few crashes have been down onto my chest/shoulder.

I use a Camelbak Motherlode, slower access but would survive some pretty nasty stacks I reckon...

Siomn, do you use karibiners through the loops on camera case and loops on rucksack sraps?

That's the thing, just make sure you have good insurance for your gear. Good insurance gives me the confidence to take my camera into all sorts of situations I'd never do otherwise (like up to my neck in surf, or out mountain biking etc).

yes ๐Ÿ™‚ It's only one extra click to remove pack and camera attached.

I used to carry mine on my chest but find it just as quick to access it from my Camelbak to be honest.
