Has anyone paint stripped a Carrera Luna or Blast.
I have the chance of buying a cheap one but it is the Luna and I don't really want my boy to be riding a girls bike.
The Luna's do seem to be very cheap compared to the Blast second hand.
Cheers

You'll probably get it powder coated for about 40 or 50 quid.

ooh, a chance to post some pics of my daughters new bike 🙂

Carrera Luna, powdercoated by Total blast services, I've made the decals and raided the parts bin and crc for the rest - the forks are some cheap ebay Reba's with new lowers courtesy of PlanetX for the grand sum of £15...

Luna frame is identical to the Blast - if you've the option of bikes avoid the ones with the white deep section rims, they've got a weird 7spd freehub, the ones with black rims have joytech hubs with a standard 8,9,10spd freehub.

Wow
That looks great mate.
Thanks for the heads up on the rims.
I love those Reba forks and the chainset.

I'd take it to a powdercoaters anyway, it's the stripping bit that takes forever and nitromors isn't as good as it used to be (but less likley to kill you and all surrounding wildlife). You can get 'chrome' powdercoat finishes, look at shiny alloy wheels as an example.

Just make sure they know what they're doing with alloy mtb frames, they're probably softer and thinner than most of what they deal with, so it needs stripping with a gentle media (not shot or grit).

I did a BMX cruiser a few years back and it wasn't too bad but I know not all paint is that easy to remove.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience of doing it to the Luna or Blast.
