I’d like to move to carbon rims 40 or 50mm - can people recommend a decent supplier / retailer please?
I have some nearly new DT 240s hubs that I had some cheap DT rims put on and I want to use these hubs for the new build.
Not looking at Enve etc as they are a bit too expensive to justify at the moment.
Thanks.

Light bicycle or Nextie. Both Chinese made that you have to import yourself. There is a bit of bureaucracy with customs but it still ends up way cheaper than US made equivalents.
Thanks chaps.
Light bicycle looks fantastic value, having a quick check around Google they seem to receive decent reviews in terms of quality.
Can anyone comment on the ordering process and likely shipping / taxes to the UK please?
I’m guessing (hoping) these rims are a similar quality to the Wiggle in house brand Prime?
Thanks.
In the sub £1k price Hunt wheels come in at a competitive price to LB and they have a good rep. I was looking at them and also the Hope RD40. Not sure where the rims come from...probably LB, but at least they're a UK based supplier so any warranty issues might be easier and more convenient to deal with.
I have had light bicycle rims on my Nicolai for 6 years or so with no problems so it was an easy decision last year to import their road rims for one of my bikes. I have the 46mm deep ones built onto some Novatec hubs. They have been brilliant. I paid a bit more for shipping to have the rims come in via Europe so I did not have UK customs charges - this is an option they offer if you ask. The whole process was easy.
My race bike has Reynolds wheels on it and the Light Bicycle are just as lovely quite frankly and they have been great over the last year.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Scott, yes Hunt seem to be decent, as far as I know they don’t sell rims separately though?
Thanks Infidel that’s helpful to know.
Bought LB road rims. Took about 3 weeks and had to pay import duty and VAT (make a payment to courier before they will deliver). This was before any option to ship via Europe. Worked out about £180/rim all-in.
Ryan Builds Wheels built them for me on a pair of Hope RS4 hubs. I went for expensive cx-Ray spokes but heavier brass nipples (which shouldn’t corrode, unlike alu, which was one reason I didn’t want off the peg).
That got me a set of very nice wheels for ~£800. Weigh 1540g (would be sub 1500g with alu nipples).
Cheaper hubs and spokes would probably get you to £550-600 for not much more weight)
Ah, sorry, missed the bit about rims only. Must take time to rad things properly!
Hunt sell rims separately.
just took delivery ofmy second set of light bicycle rims yesterday. i paid about 50 dollars shipping. they put the value at £80 for me so customs and vat came to 25 paid to parcel force to pick up. the first set i have set up on my gravel bike and they have taken a fair bit of abuse. plus my wheel builder thinks they are excellent and he is not shy on giving his opinion good or bad..
Just bought my second set of LB rims as I've been so impressed with the first.
Both times I've had them custom drilled so they work tubeless without tape - which they did for me at no extra cost, so can't fault the ordering process or customer service.
Not used their rims on a road bike but wouldn't hesitate to use them if I had call for a nice road bike.
I think wheelsmith sell their rims on their own too. Had a set of their full wheels and they were great
Hunt sell rims separately.
Not the carbon rims they don't.
I spoke to them a few weeks back about getting one for a fixed wheel I wanted to build.
I have some 28h BTLOS (not as established as LB) new unopened that I'm losing motivation to build up. They are the RC40A asymmetric "road/gravel" disc only (intended for my Arkose). PM if you want to do a deal!

How does this work?
How does this work?
Only get spoke holes drilled on inside of rim so no holes in outside of rim except the valve hole.
Drop your nipples through the valve hole and pull up from the inside holes. Lots of demos on YouTube to show it being done.
