[#4249769]

Just building my new carbon 456 and ordered an xt front mech.
Noticed the mech says for 66-69 degree seat tube angle. The 456 has 71 degree. Should it still work ok or do I need to get a specific one?

Thanks

As long as it is a hi clamp and top pull it should be fine. Mine has the xtr top swing hi clamp an it's fine. You may need to set it higher than you think - the cage of mine was rubbing the massive chunky chainstays to start with. All shifting sweetly on my SLX double now though!!

Err, clampy bit at the top (hi), with the swingy bit at the top, with mech hanging down?? Not sure what you would call that??

they still work fine with a larger gap between mech and largest chain ring. I've just had to alter mine as the mech had worked it's way down a smidge and was catching on the chain stay.

hmmm. now fitted but when trying to put in to big ring( triple) it jams the chain between the mech and ring. tried various heights etc. works fine on middle and inner.

Any ideas, apart from going double and bash?

pic? - there should only be 2mm between the plate and the ring - how's the chain fitting in there?

It jams on the bulge of the mech and the inside of the ring when lifting on to the outer ring. If you shift very slowly it sometimes goes up with just a little sticking

Try checking the mech is aligned properly - parallel to the chain rings

Which crankset/mech combo do you have?

Also sounds as if the outer stop on the mech needs adjusting to stop the mech pushing it against the chainrings.
