I had one of those embarrassing tumbles from stationary setting off on my gravel bike this morning.
It was nothing major but I did lmknock the left brifter around a couple of inches, it was easily straightened.
The thing is they're carbon EA70 AX bars & any scratches or scrapes will be under the tape.
Anything to worry about - do I need to remove the tape & check?
They were tightened up to abot 4Nm.
I had a couple of spills on my Tripster with Thomson carbon bars. Last one, fall on the ice (ooh, remember ice?!) twisted the shifter, bars were fine. About 6 months later I got knocked off by a car, that actually made me change the bars (to much nicer shape Pro gravel bars). Upon removing the Thomson, they were pretty unmarked. They'd probably still be ok, but not worth the risk. I reckon yours will be fine. But don't sue me 😀
I wouldn’t worry about it. Carbon bars seem pretty resilient with their multiple layers. IANA materials scientist.
While I'm also not going to venture a definite opinion your bars, I will say that I tried to break a minimally damaged pair to put them out of commission once. Could barely bend them, nevermind snap them. Incredibly strong.
Cheers, I'm notoriously anxious about carbon bars (they're my first set), they just felt so light and insubstantial when I fitted them. I was kind of unsure about abrasion for the brifter clamp as it twisted but I guess they're designed to take abuse.
