Howdy folks, for those who haven't seen it, there is a new bikepacking event on the calendar in June in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling, the Capital Trail. Having ridden the Highland Trail and loads of other routes, I went ahead to plan out a 238k bikepacking route around Edinburgh, and the start list for this year is looking pretty ace. Start is on 13 June at 8am at Portobello Beach, the route has about 6200m of climbing, so not for beginners at all. There is also a good 1k bike and hike in there up Dun Rig.
For this years inaugural ride there are about 15 spots still left, we are capping the entries at 100 for the first year, so the locals are happy.

This has the look of being a tremendous event. Plus you get the chance to make me eat dust. What more could you want?
