[#7512246]

My shapeshifter gas Spring messed up about 3 months ago and canyon orginally said 3 week waiting list due to the factory and warehouse upgrade. I keep nagging them and they said last month they're getting them the second week of December. Just wondering if anyone else is has been waiting because they're taking the P**s a bit now!

Can you still ride the bike without the Shapeshifter? Does it default to the DH mode or something?

Seriously womp? Now that's really wound me up! Ha they're getting an ear full on Monday!

I knew their was a risk of 1.the shapeshifter messing up and 2. Direct sales. But canyon being a massive company and having a uk based tech centre I thought it'll be better than some of the other direct sales companies.

The ride is still ridable in DH mode. It's better than it been stuck in xc mode tbh! The bike isn't unpleasant to ride up hill I'm DH mode. But it's a lot nicer in xc!

For balance, they sent me a new shapeshifter in about a week. As above, it's not the end of the world if it doesn't work. You can still ride. But that's annoying - hope you get it sorted soon.

Waited eight weeks for a bike that was in stock....cancelled the order and shortly after they charged me and sent the bike! On my list now.

Mine failed in mid October (wouldn't stay in XC mode) was also told 3 weeks, contacted them after 4 and was told mid December due to the warehouse problems, not confident I'll see it before Christmas, still been riding it though, just not as nimble up hill.

Lots of folk on the pinkbike thread with the same issue. I assume you've seen that thread?

my experience of their customer service has also been less than stellar. Shame, as I love the bike.

Dooley, you're I the same boat as me then! I keep complaining to them, but they just keep saying "sorry" and "thanks for you patience.

Paul, I haven't followed the PB thread, I'll take a look.

M6ttf: same!the bike is amazing. I just want to be able to use the shapeshifter

I waited 3 months for my Yeti rear triangle, a riding mate waited longer than that for a replacement cracked frame from lapierre.

It's not a direct v shop sales issue.

I've been treading up on this as I would like a strive. Has anyone received a 2016 shapeshifter unit for there 2015 bike? There should be a number on it that had 16 in it.

Shitshifter died last Sep on me. Canyon have being lying since then on a regulated basis with made up delivery dates, bull stories about x,y and z.

Still no '16 unit, I'm on the list, they are in Germany bla bla bla. I'm going down the legal route with them now.
Defo have a read of the PB thread, it's long but worth it for an honest view on how bad things are at Canyon.

I know I asked before, but is the bike still rideable without a working Shapeshifter thing? I know it sucks either way, but I'm just interested.

I predicted when they came out they'd go the way of the Kona Magic-link and be gone within 2 years. Do bikes really need all these on the fly geometry adjusting tech? I had heard that when it was working they rode pretty well.

The bike rides fine and is rideable in dh when the shapeshifter fails. Im on a 16 model and have been since september and its holding up fine for me so far

My shapeshifter died in September, and I've been riding the bike loads since then-it is fine in DH mode and front end still stays down on the steep up stuff. Haven't investigated fixing it yet tbh, and sounds like I've saved myself a lot of angst! Looking at getting a more xc bike anyway for the moors stuff, so could then keep the canyon for racing and not bother with a fix at all!

Hopefully the 16 model has fixed the issues. I wouldn't mind keeping it in DH mode anyways but it's nice to have a usable option. I will be waiting a while longer to see if anyone with a 2016 SS or 2016 bike has any problems.

Could you bodge it somewhere between the two modes? Or just get a spectral with a 160mm pike.
