Hi, I'm just getting back into MTB having cencentrated mainly on road riding for a few years. I have a 2016 Canyon Grand Canyon AL with XT, Fox forks etc, a nice bike and the correct size for me (5'11") but it feels ever so short compared to the MTB from 20 years ago that I used to ride & race. Can anyone recommend the best upgrade here please? Is it best to just change the stem for a longer one, or should I go for negative rise aswell? Can anyone recommend a stem please as I'm not having much luck finding one, if neg rise is what I need.
Many thanks!
if you want negative rise, just turn a positive rise stem upside down
Is it the norm these days to have such a bolt upright position on an MTB?
as compared to 20 years ago?
yep.
