[#4063277]

I have a Canyon Nerve XC 8.0 on order but planning on changing the wheels straight away to Hope Pro 2s on Arch Ex rims and sell on the DT Swiss X1700s as brand new.
Before I order the wheels form Merlin can someone confirm that the rear axel is a standard quick release? It mentions the front forks being 15mm Maxle but nothing about the rear.
I want to keep it the same standard as supplied and don't think I'll see much benefit of a 10mm bolt through rear but can change the axel at a later date.

Looks like it's QR on the website. If you're going for a Hope Pro II Evo hub it'll convert to most of the common standards by changing the end caps, so it's not a big problem if not.

My XC 9.0 uses a standard QR so I assume the 8.0 us the same.

Cheers Andy,

I knew about the hub being easily converted but thought it might be worth getting the right axel to begin with if it was non QR.

Thanks weirdnumber, that puts my mind at rest!

Just need to decide on hub colour! Leaning towards the silver for a bit of bling with the rest of the bike being black and white, shame Hope don't do white componenets.

I've got an XC 8.0 and can confirm it's QR on the rear. Good move changing the wheels, look what I did to mine:

Reckon I'm going to go down the Pro 2 route too.

I ordered from Merlin on Wednesday and Parcelforce attempted to deliver the wheels today. I wasn't in so will get them on Monday but the bike will be delivered by the end of Tuesday so getting really exited now.

Your imagine isn't working!

I thought you were just going to ride the bike as it came from the factory mate?

Wheels, brakes, bars, chainset(maybe), stem, saddle... you would have been better buying a frame and swapping the bits of your hardtail..

Still, at least you will have it in time for Dalbeattie.. Looking forwad to it.

see you next week.

You know me Mike, it was never going to stay standard!
Most of the gear from the hardtail wouldn't have been suitable for the F/S and all the fun is in making a bike you own.

Can't wait to next week, feels like Christmas all over again!
