Right I've decided its time for a new bike. My Trek Remedy has been ridden less and less at the moment as I find its too much bike for 80% of the riding I do.
I have my eye on 2 bikes - The Giant trance x2 and the Canyon Nerve xc8. I like the look of them both but the Nerve has better kit and is £1739 against £2400 for the Giant.
The only thing with the Nerve is that I can't swing a leg over to give it a test ride, and if there is a problem it will mean dealing with mail order as oppose to a LBS.
So, what are you experences and opinions on the two bikes? A £600 saving is very tempting...............

Oh - and wants the going rate for a second hand remedy 2010?
I doubt you'll find anyone who's ridden both, the Canyons are very rare over here.
I wouldn't pay full price for a Giant myself as they always seem to be discounted quite heavily at end of year. Good bikes though.
re. Remedy - depends what model and condition. they seem to hold their value OK though
At that kind of price difference you could almost afford to get the Canyon and if you don't like the frame, search out a Trance X frame or a lower miodel full build Trance just for the frame and swap over the bits from the Canyon?
Was thinking that myself mtbtomo.
The kit list on the Canyon 8 is great for the price - full 30speed XT, fox float 120 fit forks etc.
I could even go for the Canyon Nerve 9 for less than the Trance and that comes with fill X0 groupset and Mavic Crossmax ST wheels.
My biggest problem is size - my Remedy is XL (21.5 virtual 20.5 actual). I think I would go for the 20inch Canyon, as by the geometry sheet, that seems about right.
The Trance I can try out for myself
I think Canyon will collect and provide a different size or model, if when it arrives its not right? You probably couldn't take it out and get it muddy, but a leg over should tell you if its about the right size
I may be wrong but im sure they do a 30 day no quibble return policy even if it has been ridden. If you search through this forum there was somebody decided they didnt like the bike they ordered and swopped for differnet model and by the sounds of it it was hassle free. Give the Canyon customer service centre a ring they are in the uk and are meant to be very helpful. I would personnaly go for the nerve xc 9 over the xc8 just for the bling factor and you feel like your getting an even bigger bargain.
How much you wanting for the Trek Rem 8 please bud..?
Ordered the XC 7 for my misses and its a fantastic bike. Its light, extremely well put together and geometry and components seem to be perfectly matched. I wouldn't hesitate if I were you to order the canyon.
Order the Canyon, if you don't like it put all the kit on this...

And sell the canyon frame... Job done...
