A friend of mine has just taken delivery of a new Cannondale, not sure of the model but it is a nice shade of green and has 120mm travel.
The forks are Fox F120's.
He would like to fit a shorter stem than the 100mm one fitted, preferably 70mm.
I am aware that the Cannondale Lefty forks have a crazy steerer size. Can anyone tell me of the Fox equiped versions are standard 1.5" steerers or are they custom OEM types of the Lefty size? The current stem is a Cannondale own brand.
The Fox Forks will be a normal steerer size - so probably 1.5 (or maybe 1 1/8).
The headtubes on most recent Cannondale bikes are 1.5 standard dimensions, so if you put an Si headset in there it takes a Lefty steerer; a normal 1.5 headset will work with a 1.5 fork.
(I have a Rush with a 1.5 to taper reducer headset and tapered forks and that works just lovely).
Thanks Stu,
The headset is fine as its brand new, however the stem is 100mm long! If the Fox forks steerer is the standard 1.5" it opens up the shorter stem options available. I think Hope do a 1.5" option of their stems so could be bling time!
