Cannondale lefty fork... how do they work?

Is the front wheel slightly set off centre to counter the weight of the lefty fork? How do the front wheels connect to the fork? I assume the forks run/feel similar to any other two sided forks... they look very unique.

With a conical axle.

Better in most cases, less stiction, less flex. When they are not being away being serviced, that is.

The way the wheel hub connects to the fork, is similar to how the front hub on a car is attached to the suspension strut. Just smaller and lighter.

I thought newer ones were less Dorado and more Boxxer in terms of service hours?
