Ive got my eye on one of these from pauls cycles.

Being a shade under 6ft with a 32 inseem - unsure on whether to go for a large or medium?

I contacted cannondale who recommended a XL for my height which i thought was a bit odd. This will be my first XC bike in a few years aswell as my first 29er.

Has anyone on here got one at all and what size do you run?

Many thanks

Not directly much help and sizing is subject to many variables... but I ride a Large Cannondale Scalpel at 5'9''. I do like quite a long top tube though.

The top tube length is the most important factor to determine sizing. Leg inseems and seat tube lengths are pretty much irrelevant. Your upper body/ reach proportions are the things you will find hardest to fit correctly on the wrong size frame.

Without knowing a lot of the required information about you my first instinct would be that the XL should be better for a traitional stretched XC position whereas the Large will give you a more upright position and may well feel too small/ cramped. That said there is only 1.5cm difference in Eff. TT length between L and XL whereas there is a big jump from M to L (2.9cm).

The Large Flash has the same effective top tube length as my Large Scalpel as as I said, this is what I feel most comfortable with at 5'9''. I would be very, very surprised if a Medium were the best bike for you. Large might be the safest option, XL if you knwo you like to be reasonably stretched out.

Do you have a bike you know you feel comfortable on to compare effective top tube lengths and other geometry?

I used to ride a Taurine which I think was similar to a Flash albeit a 26" wheeler.

I fitted great on a medium at just over 5ft 7 with a 31" inside leg.

There has been a similar topic a few weeks ago.

I was looking at the very same bike (though ended up buying something else), had a go on a medium and it felt perfect, the large way too big for me.

I'm 5ft10 with a 32.5" inseam, if that helps. I'd say you may possibly want to go large if you're close to 6ft with a longer torso. Different stem lengths are available reasonably cheaply now (used to be a major Cannondale bugbear), either through the shop you're buying it from, or Lee at QWERTY cycles is also very helpful.

I have a Cannondale Flash 29er, I am 5'11" and it's a medium, I am usually in between medium and large on 26". I think XL would be huge. The medium is just perfect for me.

I think you're on the cusp between a Medium and Large. I had a Medium one and i'm 5'9" with 30" inside leg and it was just right

I'd go for a large at your height and inseem.

I ride a Large Flash 29er Carbon and have 33" inside leg at 6'-1"
Large will fit just fine. I ride/race it with a -5 Deg 90mm Stem.
Try and swing a leg over one before buying to put your mind at ease.
