While i have been looking for a new bike i actually took notice of the various cannondales with the lefty fork, instead of previously thinking that looks weird and how would that work etc.

It got me thinking coz i is curious, having never had a go on one, how good are they?

I have had a few, much stiffer than most forks, and extremely plush, would highly recommend.

got an f29 love mine, and all i've been riding recently, great for Xc and such a comfy ride/frame for me. just made it 1x10 with a 32T oval and its as fast as its ever been offroad.

although the weighting looks odd, they are so stable. still get people pointing at it :0)

Ridden a few over the years - great fork for XC. Never ridden a longer travel one so don't know abar that.

The lefty must be 16/17 years old by now - think I had my first one on a 2002 bike. It's a proven design that CDale have stuck with and consistently improved. They're miles more complicated internally than your typical rockshox affair, but they're also v durable IME. Keep it serviced and it will go on for ever.

Same as whatyadoinsucka..got a f29 with a lefty. Works well, stiff, tracks well. Lovely riding hardtail. Would have a scalpel 29er in a heartbeat but they are bloody expensive. I believe the air chamber is a rockshox solo air set up.

They don't seem to have done a long travel one in the bigger wheel sizes, though I guess 130mm is long travel - it is over 5 inches of travel at the end of the day. I loved the 100m 29er fork I had on my previous bike. 'normal' forks like my current Pike just feel wobbly in comparison.

I also have an F29 and owned another lefty equipped cannondale before that. Great bikes and the lefty is a great fork. In my experience they require next to no maintenance if looked after properly (i.e. clean the seals and perform a bearing reset every now and then). The bearing reset is just letting all the air out, moving the forks through all of their travel a few times and then re-inflating.

Some people don't seem to like them but they're usually the same people who don't understand the engineering that's gone into them. Not everything Cannondale have come up with over the years works well (bb30 for example) but the lefty is a cracker.

plenty of good options to a Lefty but nothing comes close in performance to weight ratio.

very durable too, only hassle is not being able to loan a wheel easily.

I currently have 4, but one is a rigid. Great forks, but the only other fork I've tried is a Bluto, so what do I know?
