Off for a ride tomorrow with some mates, been to Cannock a number of times but not been to CwmCarn. How does everyone rate the two and if you had the choice would you do one over the other?
Also what state are they in at the moment? Which rides best after rain or in the rain?
Cwmcarn every time, it has bits you can stop pedalling on.
Cwmcarn. Dry at the moment and riding well.
Penmachno or Nant Y Arian. The two best trail centres in Wales. IMHO of course 🙂
I love penmachno, but the two mentioned are abiout the same distance from me. Will keeo an eye on the forecast and may favour CwmCarn then.
Carn is on sandstone and rides very well when everywhere else is a mess.
Yep, cwncarn is good fun. Bastard of a climb followed by upon downy single track and a good long final descent. Do it twice and you'll feel it. If you still have some energy, go back to the top and do the downhill run a time or two (failing that, get the uplift for about £2 if there's room in the van.
I really rate cwmcarn. It's not the most technical place(the freeride section feels a little tame these days) but the last descent is just a blast. Rocky, but not so much that you can't let go of the brakes and take it at full speed
