Can you change it? Is it horribly expensive?

Yes you can & the price is dependant on the lengths. For example, the 222mm x 70 mm uses the same body as the 215mm x 63mm, but a different shaft. You also have to factor in a service cost.
I had my 200mm converted to 241mm with Stendec and it cost £205, but again, this included all parts & a service.
