a light but strong bike??
im having a bike made for me from 853. Its going to look lush and will be used regularly, BUT i want it fairly light but also very strong.
i wont be puting carbon bars on and it will be run ss.
Money is a slight issue but will take longer the more expensive parts are.
depends what you mean by strong? DH racing strong? hucking strong? DJ strong?
or just mincing around the woods strong?
Cheap. Light. Strong
Pick any two.
Why no carbon bars? Lighter, stronger, stiffer, better vibration damping than alloy. Seems an obvious place to lose a few grams.
i have fears about carbon bars and wont touch them with a pooey stick

Yawn.
What he menas is:
Yes you can. But it won't be cheap.
You can, if you're patient and put a bit of thought into it. Secondhand parts.
well i was thinking that it would be quite strong and quite light.
ill put a build and weight up when i get it done. eta of the frame is april so i have a few months to get a decent build together
Personally, I'd prefer to drag an extra pound round than find out at 30mph on some downhill, that I'd gone too lightweight.
That said, I gave an old Soul a good battering & it held together perfectly. And I'm 16st.
mincing around the woods
I like the sound of this new niche category. ๐
Will I have to adopt a camp persona to fit in ?
