I've just fitted some new A2Z pads to my front LX brake, and I just can't adjust the caliper so that there's no rubbing. I've used my usual 'spin the wheel, apply the brake and nip up the caliper' approach, which worked in the past but there's still some rubbing. Everything looks pretty central and pad clearance on the LXs has always been really tight.
Will it wear out or will the pistons adjust as the pads wear down so that they always rub?
adjust the caliper by eye before tightening.
It will stop eventually though.
If the pistons do adjust as the pads wear and they still rub, try pushing the pistons back into the caliper and re-align it as you would normally. This should solve the problem if it is caused by the pads being fractionally too thick.
this:
pushing the pistons back into the caliper and re-align it as you would normally. Realign by eye
As explained to me, the problem with the loosen caliper, grab, tighten approach is that one piston moves ahead of the other one which means it's usually just against the opposite pad instead of being central.
