I was gutted to hear of the passing of Mark Reilly a few weeks back as he built me the first ever custom framed road bike I'd ever owned. An Omega Radius and I still have the frame. So, in a fit of inspiration I decided to build it up again to its former glory. Many years ago I bought a Super Record Groupset from ebay for £400 which was an utter bargin. So I dug this out and commenced building.

At the same time I'd read the reports on this site of SRAM AXS gearing which got me thinking that I could avoid the hell of cable routing by going electric. So off to Google to see what Campagnolo do.

Oh my god.

How can it be that expensive? Not far off £700 for a rear mech, £400 for a front and hardly any stock out there at all. I'm looking at many thousands to make the jump and as far as I can tell there are no alternatives?

Not really sure what the point of this post is unless anyone knows of any plans for electric campy that is a) not for Goldman Sachs employees only b) wireless

the hell of cable routing

Can you explain this? Usually cable routing is straightforward, especially on externally routed frames.

As for Campagnolo prices, don't buy Super Record: Chorus provides the same user experience with only a slight weight penalty.

Herself has been using Chorus EPS for about 5 years. She likes it a lot.
Battery last a very long time and it has all been very reliable.
Unfortunately when I was looking to go electric Campag hadn't brought out their disc groupset so I went eTap HRD instead.

Merlin have a few discounted bits left including 12 SR shifters and rear derailleur.

Edit: scratch that.. mostly out of stock when you click through.

Honestly... Save yourself the headache! I'm a big Campag fan here, but EPS is a whole different level of incompatibility and cost that you don't want to be getting into as a home mechanic with 2nd hand parts on a relative budget, trust me!

Actually... That £400 Super Record groupset... Ignore what I just wrote above, get yourself all EPS'd up! Send me some details, might be just what I'm after to upgrade my steel road bike! 😁
