Hi,

The rear shifting on my campag Centaur cannot be dialled in and it seems to have a mind of its own. It is never possible to get the rear mech to run silent across all of the sprockets, and if I do get it quiet it only takes a few gear changes and it seems out of line again.

This must mean that the the front shifter is worn. Is it possible to replace the internals of the shifter so as to avoid having to buy a new one?

Thanks

I take it you mean rear mech?

I would look to replacing cable inner and outers first, thats th most likely culprit.

Good luck.

cables, and you could, not sure if you can, strip and service Ergo shifters, replace internal springs, convert from 9 to 10spd etc.

Could be a number of things, but my guess if you can get it to index in some gears but not all is a slightly bent mech hanger

Check your cable adjuster on the rear mech where the spring is..it coud be threaded.

Yes it is threaded, but can you explain further?

Common misconception on here, people seem to think a threaded hole has no thread left in it, he actually means it's stripped. If you're getting inconsistent shifting, the cable is usually the prime suspect, and the cheapest to replace too.
