Interested in this. What is the terrain like? Would you use a 29'er suspension bike or drop bar rigid with 2.25 29'er tyres, given the choice ? Thanks
From those two I'd go with the suspension, drop bars might be "interesting". The ITT group start was this last weekend - there's a discussion here. The inner loop is the harder part, expect some hike-a-bike. The outer bit is mainly estate tracks but the section into the top of Glen Tilt and up to Fealar Lodge is singletrack and/or pushing. Note that Alan Goldsmith accepts a completion of the CL towards an entry to the group start of the HT550 so expect it to be hard.
Are you looking at touring it or going for a quick time?
Touring! 3 days probably
Presumably you've seen PostieRich's report?
it will be more fun on the 29er fs but i still put in a good time on my rigid bike. The fat bike was more fun on the decent down into derry lodge though.
My mate found that decent tough on his drop barred rigid fargo but i reckon that was more because his bike was 50 odd lbs loaded vs mines being only 32 loaded
It can't be that hard. The double loop has been done in under 19 hours.
scotroutes much snow on the tops, heading up tomorrow for some fun and frolics.
Just seen this report posted on the Bearbones forum.
