Any pointers on cable disc brakes, looking at Avid ball bearing 5, or 7's. Just after a cheap set for my winter hack bike but its a disc specific frame. Any problems with these? any other recommendations?

Cheers ๐Ÿ˜‰

BB7s are worth paying the extra for as they are easier to adjust. Don't be thinking they're rubbish because they're not hydraulic btw.

set up properly they are good. Used twice on holiday hire bikes. Managed 3 days in Sierra Nevada and 6 in Andalucia mountains.
Therefore should be OK here I would have thought. One set Shimano(?) and 1 Clarks
Wifes Myka has them fitted and seem to work fine.

they're about the only cable disc worth a look, but don't dismiss hydros, CRC or wiggle always have cheapies on sale, and Shimano Deore are easy to look after and are still better than cable.

BB7's on my 456 and they are a doddle to set up and are very powerful. I have had all sorts of hydraulic brakes but these seem to be the most progressive when being applied.
