[#6543457]

After finally getting the motivation to start riding to work on days I've decided that doing so on a Heckler running 1x10 and nobblies for basically a 5 mile uphill is a stupid idea so I'm treating myself to something more sensible.
Now I've been down the roadie route before and I have to say I'm not overly enthusiastic when it comes to drop bars so I was thinking (with the help of a friend) about investing in one of these for the job, opinions??

Looks nice.

https://www.cotic.co.uk/product/roadrat in sora/disc spec is the same price i think. Depends if you want steel or ally...

900 notes for sora?

Overpriced IMO.

This is a bargain if it fits (s/h)

Gonna be a cycle to work thing so £900 is going to end up more like £650 which makes it a bit more appealing, that Cotic is quite sexy though!

£900 is way too much to be paying for what is essentially a basic, Sora clad, commuting hybrid (IMO). can't really see what it's got over a boardman hybrid comp
Other than the name on downtube and the brands Britishness if that's what floats your boat then I suppose go for it.

To be honest I quite like the look of that Roadrat, steel sounds good to me for a tiny bit more comfort and I can get one from 18 bikes in Hope which is only 5 mins away. Like I said it works out for a £900 bike to cost me just under £650, the only thing holding me back is would something like this be any good if I decided to get a few road rides in (not really my thing but it'd nice to know I have the option).

EDIT: Just read a few reviews for the Roadrat and it's totally won me over, just need to decide whether I want to run gears or an Alfine...

I commute 24 miles a day on a roadrat, but I run it singlespeed to reduce maintenance. It is a great bike for people who can't admit to being roadies

I'd want a dynamo hub and mudguards on my commuter.

That Roadrat is waaaaaay over priced. Even at £650 it's a bit steep. Ridgeback X3 is £50 cheaper and a nicer bike to ride. (I had a Roadrat, trust me....) or the new Genesis CDF is £850 iirc and is a seriously lovely bike in the new red colour.

That O'range does look very expensive. What about this?
