100km here; bit worried about the house-warming party the night before and the 5.30am start! ๐Ÿ˜•

Wouldn't have thought so. I'm hoping to do 100,but will duck out at 75 if I'm struggling. Looks like it'll be warm.

I'm in! First attempted 100km. Although newly serviced forks has just blown a seal and my front disc is rubbing and howling like a banshee! Will be there, even if its on the SS or 'cross bike!

like to do it but it's a long drive to over there and the cost of the petrol makes me think twice now. I wonder if the attendance to this kind of event is decreasing for that reason.

Wasn't aware that numbers were down. You're right about the costs, tho. We're car sharing, which helps.I rarely use my car for bike duties,so I don't feel too daft....and at least there's plenty of riding to do.

Me and my 16 year old are doing the 50km. Arriving on the Saturday and camping overnight. Should be a good weekend.

I'm in for the long one again-its only 80km and not 100 like everyone bangs on about. Its a bit annoying that they advertise them as 100's yet the longest one in the series is only 92km (ruthin).Still good day out tho. Can't decide on whether to take the ss as usual or the cx bike for a change and to make the road lead out less painful (although it does'nt look as bad this time).BruceK-take the cx and we can have a groupetto!

Only 80k?? That's taken the shine off it. Can't come home to the Mrs,complain that I'm tired, when I've only rode 80k. I'm sticking to 100,sounds far more impressive.

We did think about doing it on the tandem but we're meeting up with a few others for a more exclusive ride instead. ๐Ÿ˜‰

TBH I only realy like the one at Selkirk these days.

Clocked the longer route at 40 miles but that was enough for me - had a long sit down in the shade at the last feed station 'cos the heat had got to me ๐Ÿ˜ณ Ended up getting through 6.5 litres of fluids by the end !!!!

Some nice singletrack in places - killer climbs in the heat.

The marshalls directed loads of riders on a short cut to the 2nd feed station. Guess it saved them pushing theirs bikes up the hill!!

Did they? I rode up that bl00dy hill! The 50k was actually 52k mainly due to that last sadistic climb up past the quarry. How how was that white road? Was persuaded to do it the night before, not really my thing but thought it was a friendly, well organised event.

Only an hour drive for me tho, so nice to go ride in some stunning scenery. Couple of the descents were ace esp. into 2nd feed station.

Bloke came past me just before that road bend, locked up, went sideways and only just held it together. He was a bit more circumspect after that. I managed to overtake the van which was fun ๐Ÿ™‚

I guy behind me wiped out good and propper on that rode bend, I never saw it but i heard a skid then the sound of bushes ๐Ÿ˜ but he cought me up and he was fine, he said he summersaulted about 5 times.

I was abit confused about the distance, i though i have another 9 miles to do...

I did the full distance in a time of 4:13 and came in 13th in class and 34th overall.

Great race, but not good for us red head, factor 50 surved its purpose though ๐Ÿ™‚ also not eaten properly the week before (confrance food/fat man food) is not good for giving me enegery...

How hot!!!

Really suffered yesterday... was meant to be riding the full distance but ended up only doing 50k route.... just couldn't handle that heat!!!

Some of those descents were excellent... then followed by some brutal climbs

All fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

I ended up as a casualty...of the heat.Started to shiver(!!) around the 3rd feed station mark.Did the big climb straight after it before having a word with a marshal and bailing back down to do the 50 (ended up as 57!).
Cx bike actually turned out to be a good choice-somewhat interesting on the fast decents and battered my arms-but quick everywhere else.Really hav'nt got to grips with gears tho...ss all the way for me in future.Ended up 30ish I think ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I know what you mean. I did it on rigid/ss and having (briefly) tried gears again recently I much prefer ss riding - even on hills like Builth.

Weird being at the pointy end for once!Starting quick and getting slower, more used to being nearer the back at the start and making my way to the front.Just don't know how to pace myself with gears-and far too spinny! Was good fun (and quick, especially the road lead out) on the cx but will back on a 'proper' bike for the next one.

I was looking for results by class and distance?

From web site - "Due to legal restrictions we are not able to give more details on the results than provided here" 'cos it's not a race as it's on bridleways / roads etc.

Look at the race numbers as that's the distance entered. But people then change distance and / or take short cuts which means the results don't mean a lot.

It was my first marathon did the full distance, fair play to Nezbo on doing it in that time. I had a couple of mechanicals and struggled with cramp.Finished on 5.19
Really enjoyed it,well organised, stunning scenery, friendly mountain bikers and Guy Martin!

Did he ask at the event? They might have had all the categories on the PC they were using so could tell him then.

<EDIT> too slow .... just like my riding !!!!
