Fed up getting bugs blatting around inside my helmet when I'm riding and not knowing if they're killer bees or something less scary.

Anyone know which helmets have that bug mesh in them?

And as an aside, I was stung/bitten by what I thought was a shield bug at the weekend! Cheeky git - I was rescuing it from the sea. It went straight back in.

I got stung by a wasp entering thru a vent on my helmet, i suspect i looked an arse jumping up and down on a moor swinging my helmet about!! I now wear a piss pot, very satisfying sound of insects bouncing off it!!!

My less-than-fashionable solution to this problem (got bitten a few times on the head during one summer several years ago, with a bad reaction each time) is to wear a bandana under the helmet. It seems to work by stopping the insects getting stuck in the hair and they just slide right through the front vent and out the back. Haven't been bitten since and that was more than 10 years ago now. Added bonus is the bandana acts like a wicking base layer for your head, which reduces how sweaty the helmet pads get - which is a bonus doing an hours commute each way in summer.

I agree with the bandana idea, it didn't stop the angry wasp but it does a cracking job on sweat, i use a buff but you gotta wash em often otherwise they end up smelling like socks!! Nice

Doog - Yes, clean one every day... and if it's really warm on the way to work, rinse it under the tap when I arrive and it's clean (er/ish) and dry by home time. Agree, the sock smell is to be avoided ๐Ÿ˜‰

As a baldy I often feel insects in my hat - it usually feels lie they're running to escape out the back
I also wear a bandanna in hot weather as a sun block to prevent weird patterns on my head
