[#9832983]

Im looking for a budget turbo trainer, something I can strap the wife’s inbred to and have a blast on (ooohh eerrrrr).

Doesn’t have to be silent (would be nice though) and adjustable resistance would be a bonus.

Maybe something like this?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004JO48K6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518462879&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=turbo+trainer&psc=1</span>

Anything else to consider for similar money?

Thanks.

Tacx Flow. I got mine for £180 odd and I can't fault it

In true STW fashion, the budget is blown out of the water with the first reply!

And now I’ve read the description and like the sound of it.

The one you linked to will be fine. I think I have the same thing but even less features

Lack of variable resistance no issue for me. But I do wish I had a quick release to attach the bike

Just bought a Tacx T2650 from Halfords this weekend for £99.

Pretty happy with it after a 1 hour session tonight.

My local Aldi were knocking out ones almost identical to the one in your original link for £30 last week.

I bought a basic Elite one for £40 (was £60, but they were on sale) in Halfords a couple of years ago. Again looks pretty similar to the one in your link. Had no problems with it at all.

Thanks ampthill.

nairnster, looks interesting. Will have to have a read up on the Ant+ capability’s as it would be great if I could pair it to my Garmin 800/FR35.

I paired mine with my edge 500 and my phone and used Bkool which I then displayed on tv using a Chromecast.

Not fully interactive with Bkool as it's not a 'proper smart trainer but it certainly makes it a little more interesting.

I bought a basic Elite from Halfords with 5 resistance setting. Used it a few times with Zwift then upgraded to a Smart Tacx T2240.

The basic trainers are fine and not too noisy when you compare to the old turbo fan ones.

I’ve got a budget cycle ops one that I got from a mate to pay for an uplift day at BPW that I’d paid for. I had an operation looming and wanted something to spin my legs with.

Works ok - you just take the normal qr out of your bike and put a longer / more sturdy one in and set the roller and resistance.

I’ve got a tv in the garage to try and make it a bit less boring. I don’t think I could justify anything fancier, but then I don’t use it much. Thinking I might try to get a few more fitness sessions on it in there when the weather is really bad.
