Brompton Hinge People Recommendations

I’ve a bee in my bonnet and because I’m a fickle git, I’ve decided I really want my blue Brompton to be orange

have gotten a reasonable quote for powder coating from a local company here in Essex but they need the bike to be disassembled first, which is fair enough

The only thing I’m a bit sketchy on is replacing the three rear triangle, front fork and stem hinges / pins / gubbins properly

Questions…

has anyone done this at home with success and how easy / hard is it to do properly?

If no to the above

can anyone recommend anywhere ideally within spitting distance of Essex that would replace these parts am not charge the earth for doing so?

Thankyou in advance for any help / advice, folks

Hinge replacement needs a special tool.
Mine seized after many years (my Brompton is 25 years old) and was done by a friend who worked at Edinburgh Bike Coop.

Any Brompton dealer should be able to do it

I rebuilt a Brompton using a new main frame and an old rear triangle. I presumed I'd need a bike shop to do this, but I thought I'd have a go. From memory I just unscrewed the bolts then drifted out the spindle.

Reassembly was just the opposite.

A few caveats..

I am not a mechanic.

The spindle I used was fairly new so in pretty good condition.

I've not used the bike much since then but all seemed ok on the few times I've ridden it.

It does SEEM easy enough but have since spoken with one of LBS who have offered to do it for £40 if I get the hinge / spindle kits for all three joints

feels like a safe bet
