My LBS have just rang to say I didn’t just rip my mech off but damaged the swing arm, I didn’t even crash just landed a small jump and I thought snapped the mech hanger!
They have suggested maybe getting a metal worker to fix it but will price up a new swing arm from Giant as one option but suggested it’s probably going to be around £200 for the part.
Does anyone have experience of this? I can’t decide if it’s going to be worth spending all that money to fix it or split it and sell it and buy a new bike as I had planned to next year anyway?
I thought Giant had a lifetime frame warranty?

Does it cover jumping though - especially if the op has already told the bike shop that. Plus if the mech got ripped off then presumably it would be classed as crash damage?
I hoped the warranty might cover it but the shop wasn’t convinced at all.
Have the shop asked Giant or just said "don't think it'll be covered".
If the later, get then to ask..
Yep ask the question of giant, is this the shop you bought it from or not?
Unless you’ve been absolutely sending it then I can’t see why it wouldn’t be warranty
Giant have a good reputation for warranty claims. If you have no luck with the shop try Giant direct.
Shop have sent pictures to their Giant rep in the hope they will replace under warranty. Quote for replacement was £260 plus Vat!
I think Giant's spares pricing is pretty fair tbh, a new frame would be £1,600 or so?
Should still be covered under warranty though
A mate of mine cracked the swing arm on his 2014 Trance last year. Giant replaced it under warranty no problem.
Get you LBS to put a warranty claim in to Giant.
Should be covered. A mate ripped off rear of his Scott full suspension & got a new one . He cased a big jump . He told them he'd done it too. They said their products should be up to it 😊
