Hello,

has anyone flown from London City airport on a BA CityFlyer (Embraer jet I think) with a bike?

Apparently bike must be in a "recognised" bike bag. I have a thick plastic bag (from a bed mattress). Any word if that would suffice? I live close enough that I can ride to the airport and it would simplify everything so much.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi

Flew to Rotterdam on BA City Flyer over the summer - they were great.

Cycled to airport and put bike into a CTC clear plastic bag (bought from Wiggle for about £10) in the departure hall. Bike had both wheels still on (it's. 51cms frame so quite small), with bars spun 90 degrees and the 'rolled' down to sit within the frame to make it more streamlined and protect the shifters/brake hoods, with pedals removed too.

No questions asked at check-in, although they got picky and made me fully deflate the tyres before they would check it in.

No guarantees I guess but my experience was very positive.

Thanks Fleecy, that sounds good.

I phoned BA twice and both people said it should be fine (I intended to take the best of 3 :))

I guess the main problem will be in Malaga on the way back 😀
