I often head down that way to visit the inlaws and a half-term visit is looming.
Now it doesn't take the brains of an archbishop to wok out that it MUST have great trails, but where are they?
I head out from Waytown but it's just a swamp half the time.
So anyone got any routes within a short drive from Bridport?
Was down Bridport for a weekend I done the coastel paths.
and anything else I could descend on.
Have to push the bike up mind but well worth for the descents
did not look for XC but there was flat terrain amongst the very
high coastal paths.
Grantway
are the coastal paths bridleways? I'm more interested in the downs than the ups!
Hi Mike sorry been away
To be honest unsure people where more intrested in just watching
and laugthing oh and clapping.
I did use my full face helmet.
Mate its the nutz Wifes idea to take bikes
she had been before but didnt relise there was fun to be had.
There are also fallen cliff faces to ride down on the right hand side of
Bridport.
For a good lunch and even Dinner
Face the sea at Bridport go left up side of cliff very steep
keep going for about 40 mins and have to go over Two cliff faces
and a little diversion through campsite but ok and back onto costal ride you come to a resturant with a Marquee front run by National Trust
on your left from descent of cliff face.
I lived towards that way for 6 months and used to go riding at a spot near Axminster, which isn't too far from there. I think it was called Chute Woods, but I could be wrong. Don't expect anything too epic though.
The restaurant that grantway mentions is actually called The Hive Beach Cafe, at Burton Bradstock, and isn't run by the NT at all;

The food & place is great (even though it's just a marque!), bit pricey though, but it keeps winning awards & I can see why.
People I know that ride around Brid tend to do coastal path routes in the area.
I'd probably head over to either Puddletown Forest for mucking around for a while or to Haldon, near Exeter; http://haldonfreeride.org/index.php - there's lots of choice there.
Cheers! KNow the HIve-lovely place. Might look at the coastal option. I'll let you know what I find.....
no worries, not familiar with the routes myself, my boss goes out that way with a group from brid/weymouth but they're all much faster than me so i don't bother!
Did Waytown-Melplash-Mangerton then bridleways to Loaders then across to Burton Bradstock back to West Bay.
Nice ride if unexciting. Messed around on hills into West Bay which have potential. Couldn't help spot the 2 suffers just west of the breakwater-looked good!
Might head west to Charmouth to ride the cliffs there; reckon much fun to be had there.
I think there's some half-decent woods round there too.
Nice one mikertriod seems like your having fun there mate ๐
