Just back from brief ride around The Gap route, Brecon Beacons. Got to top, heading north, and gently rolled down first section awaioting teh series of steps. They had ALL gone, now just a smoothed of rocky ramp, lots of rock debris swept to one side; were they dynamited away, and why?
Seriously changed the whole nature and challenge of the route..........

Lol - where have you been hiding?

The area was tarmaced/sanitised earlier this year & there was a shed load of talk on here about it. Give it another year or so & the rain/water will have washed it all away again & the steps/drops will be back.

This happened back in the early spring i think. My wife and i chose to do the route quite literally a day or so before the top section was flattened. We encountered the JCB about halfway down before the first gate. By the next weekend he had literally flattened the whole lot!

To be fair it's only a short technical sectoin at the top that changed. The bridleway that starts (the one lined with hedges either side)just after that gate at the bottom is actually more fun anyway.

although it now looks rather overgrown and issue would be bars tangling in the bushes
