[Closed] Brandx Ascend 2 reassembly

It's the version with the external actuator cable that goes in at the seatpost collar. I've taken my dropper apart & am struggling to get the bottom end of the post to fit flush with the bottom of the post, before I then put the cap on. It is sitting out of the tube be 2mm or so. The top bits are all together flush & I've taken it apart for a 2nd time & don't see anything wrong.

Is there any knack to putting it back together, like having to actuate the chamber to make it shorter so it takes up the 2mm it seems to be over-extended by?
