Some mornings commuting i must like an utter tool..
i occasionally ride my fully with a messenger bag and a rediculous mixture of kit.
Silly does'nt even begin to cover it.

I've wondered about this. You see folk on Specializeds with the full Specialized outfit on and it's a bit like Joey in Friends when he finds the key to the Porsche.

Conversely, would you look like a bigger fud if you were wearing for example Specialized clothing but riding a Trek?

Wear what you want on whatever bike you have.

That's my approach anyway. Sometimes I end up with a Specialized Jersey, gloves & tights combo while riding my Specialized and I feel like a bit of an idiot, but hey ho.

Didn't stop me getting an On One merino top when they were cheap. Not ridden in it yet though and no, I don't have an On One, yet... (eyes on a frame that is just hanging in someones house).

I was tempted by it too. Problem is I [i]do[/i] own an On One.

Doesn't matter whether your bike's an On One or not. The top is On One, so yes you will look a complete knobber.

Yeah - so do I, but I'm not sure I can pass up such bargain cheapness.

I think you'd look worse if you do ride the same brand.

For that reason I ensure that I never ever wear my Kona tshirt out riding.

I spotted a bloke at the weekend in a full Cervelo kit so I was interested to see what Cervelo he was riding. It was a Boardman. IMHO it looked like he wanted an expensive bike but couldn't afford one.

I dont match but i dont really think about it either - What i wear tends to be what i've got clean and top of the pile!

That's pretty much my attitude to it.....although I do have some matching kit, which bu66ers it up sometimes.

I don't match my stuff, but I have generic branded gear, not sure I'd wear a trek top on a specialized or whatever.

If its just a matching top you'll be alright, just don't match your shorts and socks etc as well!

I don't really like having logos plastered all over me, but at 15 notes, my wallet says yes.

Personally I don't like branded gear and try not to buy. If it's cheap, I don't really care though.

For the price, I'd ignore the name on it! I need a new long sleeved top, and other than it being mostly black, which on the one hand is good, it hides the dirt but is useless to be seen by, so got a feeling I'll make a purchase from there.

I think I'd be more conscious of what the muggles would think of me wandering round with "On One" scrawled down my arms, cos they'd think it was just a 'witty' slogan and respond accordingly.

I think if it's actual team replica kit and you don't have the bike it looks a bit daft (it doesn't look great if you do have the bike, but it makes more sense!), if it's just clothing made by a bike brand then it's no problem!

Lets take a look at my kit... I ride a Specialized, an One-one and a Kona.
My Kona has Bontrager (Trek) tyres and rims
My On-One has Specialized bars, tyres and a Bonty stem.
I do have some Specialised shoes, but only wear them on the On-One and Kona.
Most of my decent clothing is Sombrio or Pearl Izumi.

As per Peterpoddy doesn't matter. I have Giant bib shorts and don't own a Giant plus a Magura wool jersey whilst I own nothing made by Magura.

Wear what you want, it's not like you're being 'paid' to wear it/advertise it.

Threads like this make me think that I can never fit in with the mtb and STW crowds. Not that that would bother me particularly. Do you all still ask your mums what to wear? I wear stuff that I think is fit for the job and good value. I couldn't give a jobbie if that upsets other's sense of dress correctness. Wear what you want. At the end of the day the boy on an Apollo dressed in Matalan with da skillz is going to get far more respect than a biffa on a 4k bike dressed in Rapha*. Innit?

* Ok it may not have been Rapha but the muppet spoilt brat that must have been on/wearing 6k of gear and was clearly the worst rider at the Welsh trail centre I was at on a day recently has inspired this comment!

PS. I have mentioned it before but the reason on one are selling those tops cheap is cos they couldn't sell that at normal price modelled on a skinny fat bloke who looks like he has never done a day's biking in his life. Just my 2p worth.

I've got a couple of those on-one tops sitting on my desk as they've just arrived. I don't actually ride an On-One at the moment (although I've an Inbred frame in the back of the garage) although SWMBO does (one of the tops is for her).

The main issue will be making sure that we don't both wear our on-one tops at the same time!

if it matches, i won't wear it, the other day i realised that i was going out in a grey top with orange and my shorts were grey with orange, so i changed my top. my feeling is that with co-ordination of outfit comes some expectaion of co-ordination, and i'm not ready for that pressure.

Oh I dunno, there's lots of "I need reassurance about my clothes or bike or kit choice" threads on here. I think I've spent too long playing rugby or something but I can't imagine a rugby player getting on the bus and saying "Guys do you think it would be ok to mix my red Gilbert training top with my blue Kooga shorts or do you think people might laugh at me?" Actually there is a team where that probably goes on, they're called the King's Cross Steelers. Google them!

Rugby players seem to have coordinated their kit in all the matches I have seen.

I buy whatever works - whatever brand that may be.

It just happens that I find Spesh make good gloves, helmets and SPD shoes which I guess "match" my two (three including wifes) Specialized bikes!

Who the **** chose that "model" for the sweater though? The definition of a shapeless exercise dodger.

I don't have a lot of stuff with really heavy branding on really. Most obvious is a RaceFace top, which I guess matches my bars and cranks. Subtle. 🙂

Certainly on the road scene, the only people who can get away with fully matching branded kit are pros. Don't even attempt it unless you have a proper cycling tan, shaven legs, a body fat % in the low single figures and the ability to ride everyone off your wheels.

If I'm feeling particularly cruel later on I might post the pic of the rather large gentleman I saw recently in full team lycra on his matching team issue bike which is Exhibit A of why it's a BAD look!

in the end anyone judging you for what your wearing should be concentrating on riding their own bike and enjoying themselves, not worrying about what anybody is wearing or indeed riding!

I bought one of the planet x jerseys and don't ride a planet x doesn't bother me at all. It was so cheap it had to be done. Surely having mismatched kit/bike identifys you as someone who cares more about riding than what you look like on the bike and this is no bad thing. To the leyman we all look ridiculous anyway. On the other side of the coin some people manage to get just the right look everything understated and subtily matching, however, this doesn't include team kits which are usually a bit garish so if you are worried what you look like I would avoid any team items altogether.

I wear tops of websites I don't even use any more. Wear what is least smelly and lowest cost - and always helps if it fits. Nowt worse than a man with shorts / top gappage.

The on-one long sleeved XXL top arrived today.

I think maybe they sent an a child's XXL top, surely it isn't meant to be THAT tight across the gut.

I put the man in the photos to shame.

If I was at a rave with bikes and jerseys, would I wear 1 on-one jersey when I was on 1 on-one whilst I was on one?
