.....but not fitted properly, or used.

They look brand new, the steerer is uncut, but they have a mark that looks like the bottom race has been fitted.

Why would this be? Not overly concerned, just curious

£250 below RRP from a major chain

Is the steerer pressed in from below with Fox forks? I can’t remember for sure, but expect it is. If it is, the the widest diameter part of the steerer could have some finish rubbed off when fitted to the crown.

Bought 3 forks recently. pike, lyrik and fox and all are identical at that bit.

Although all are oem, i think this is normal and more to do with a proper fit to the crown race.

What Kelvin said, steerer tubes are pressed in

Did they come in retail packaging? If not, I'd go with them having started out on a new, assembled bike which had been split down again.

Yes with accessories, box was taped up with packing tape though

Yes perfectly usual to have little rubbing visuals from brand new not fitted.

Quit the paranoia and fit - stunning weather out 🌞👍

I was expecting the steerer to have been cut and a SFN fitted LOL.

That's totally normal, it's just markings from the steerer been fitted.

Thanks for the helpful answers, as I said not overly concerned, more curious.

To the pissy answers, I hope you get cat aids 😘

Yeah tbh my cat needs an aid for her missing leg. Have you seen any on Amazon by any chance like a cat and chariot.
