Unbelievably my hope minis have gone from being mediocre in stopping my 16 stone bulk to now being ferociously sharp and almost unsettling . This has all happened since my attempts to cure wet weather squeal(which has actually been v. successful). basically I torched the sintered pads for a minute each , sanded the discs and applied plastilube on the back .
Now even at high speed downhill , 1 Finger will have you lurch forward with a fairly gentle squeeze!
anyone any suggestions to make the stopping more progressive without changing the pads?
(awaits wd40 jokes etc)
anyone deliberately introduced a little air into the system to compensate?
cheers
Bill
Dont squeeze them so hard?
Is it just that the system is too full and the bite point is really far out? You could try draining a little fluid from the reservoir.
Congratulations. You now have them working properly. recalibrate your fingers
How can you over fill hydraulic brakes?
Dial the reach out a touch on the levers.
They bite too early of have no modulation ? I'm not sure what the problem is -don't grab the lever as much ?
gt85 on rotor will sort you out ๐

That's what my brakes do anyway. adapt your braking technique
Buy some Avid BB7 then youll never have to mess round will all this hydraulic faff
Use narrower tyres.

OK, not 'over-filled' but if the brakes have been left in a humid environment, the hydrophilic brake fluid can take on water and cause there to be too much fluid in the system.
Lazy fix - let out some fluid
Diligent fix - re-fill the system
I'd certainly not let any fluid out they'll become very crap in no time.
Don't use them, you can type wythout brakes ๐
Clearly you can't Hairy.
Swap pads or wear them down abit (swap from front to rear)

This is piffle. water is dissolved in the system. An open system such as hopes any extra volume such as generated by heat expansion goes back into the master reservoir.
I can, only incorrectly ๐
without without without without without without... (only 95 without's to go)

I've been accused of some things in my time, but never Pifflage!
I had some brakes where the bite point got further and further out and the only thing to cure it was letting out fluid. I put it down to water in the brake fluid. S'pose I could be wrong.
