brakes can I swop l...
 

[Closed] brakes can I swop left to right on the handle bars

I've got a set of brakes of eBay can I swop them to opist sides so that the front brake will be on the right side of handle bars , they end up ,up side down will they get air in them or am I beening silly ! They should be air tight any way ? Pls advise will it be OK to do this

Maybe you should just fit the bars backwards.
That way you'd not even have to swop the levers from left to right.

Just swap the hoses over.

What brakes are they? Avids are swappable, not sure what other brands are though?

all depends on the brake, new Hope - fine, avid - fine and a few others.

Most brands are flip flop design, ie the same top & bottom so you can flip to either side, shimano are not, lots of OEM brakes come euro. Sod's law I ride euro & recently brought some depression for my play bike and the were uk, I need to swap mine!! Doh!!

Just did a hose swap on some SLXs, apparently they don't need bleeding if you do it quick / right. Good luck with that...

shimano are easy to swap without bleeding as are tektro if in doubt Epic bleed solutions have a how to shorten shimano hoses without bleeding [url= http://www.epicbleedsolutions.com/blog/shorten-shimano-hoses-without-bleeding/ ]here[/url] just leave out the shortening bit!

Because they've bought a set of brakes set up as front/ left and want front/right I suppose?

Yep, it all depends what kind of brakes you have. What kind of brakes do you have?

Thank you for the response ,they are shimano deffo not the same to look at made to be one way up ,black cover on one side will see how they go ,then swop over the hose quickly see what happens

New hope i.e. Tech 3s not fine. You could with the tech 2s
