[#4276868]

I am the middle of an epic roadtrip in the alps (21 biking resorts so far) and 7 weeks in I have used 2 sets of rear brake pads
Is this normal?
And anyone in Tignes got some spare V2 brake pads?

I destroyed brand new pads (Hope V2, organic) in two rides, total 65km around the Black Mountains last week so I think your doing ok considering your in the Alps. Having said that my previous pads lasted 18 months. Try sintered if you haven't already?

Maybe get some mail ordered to where you are staying next? I'm sure at least one of the bike shops in morzine must stock them

I used two sets of pads in 4 days in Canazai last year, so I think that's impressive! I'm taking two spare sets for each end for a week in Morzine next week.

Must get braver and save money!

Think the Intersport in Bourg sells* pads anyway

*Sells in a $1,000,000 kind of a way

Might be worth contacting the local guiding companies, see if they can recommend or help? (White Room, Trailaddition, Bikevillage). The shop in Bourg is not cheap but still a better option than having no pads.

And then, as mentioned, get a load sent out to a suitable address- Superstar'll post to europe for £3.50 frinstance, 4 sets of kevlars for £28.50 will do you good (they won't last as long as sintered but they're more consistent and less overheaty under long hard use)

My bro ran out of pads for his Formula K18s last week whilst in Les Arcs - he went to 4 different shops and none of them stocked his pads (or had them in stock if they did), so might be worth ringing first if you can speak french.

I did 1 pair of front pads in the first 3 days (superstar organics) and about 1/3 worn the replacements (alligator semi metallics) in the last 2 days, rears (superstar sintered) are about 1/4 worn.

Meanwhile, 20 minutes away in Sainte Foy, Northwind was opening his bag of spares and discovering he'd brought 2 sets of Oro pads by mistake, instead of The One pads. Ah well

If only we'd known NW, he rode the last day with no rear pads which made for some interesting sounds, smells and line choices! 🙂

Anyone need a lightweight Formula rotor? 🙂

With conditions as they are here I'm not surprised. Just changed my pads after a spin round BMs/ Sugarloaf riding in the grinding paste.

Just dragged my new pads the full height of Llanellyhill to cook them in.

I used about 3 sets in a 3-week road trip just recently...

21 bike parks?!
Think we managed about 8! (over 3 weeks)

I used a set of rears in four days when I was out there. Instead of intersport in Bourg, there is a proper bike shop behind it, called Revolver I think.

Check with Stevo from the bike room, he uses V2's (although he gets a box of pads from CRC).

He might be able to point you in the right direction.

Use about 30 sets of pads a year in the Alps so 2 in 7 weeks is ok
