Yesterday the other side of the BPW hill was on fire. 3 acres of it with at least 5 fire engines according to the uplift driver. We could smell the smoke easily but didn't see any flames. I was trying to find some pictures of it but I can't find any news coverage of it. Did it make any local news?

Isn't it mountain ash the other side?

Misty old memories of the locals riding stolen scooters the other way up the track on Dragon uplift days.

Is that old track still there to ride?

As I'm currently sat in Merthyr Premier Inn looking forward to a day at BPW tomorrow you've made me Google it.ย  Gets a mention on Natural Resources Wales Facebook page but can't find anything more.ย  I shall have another beer and relax 😄

Speaking as a Firefighter I wouldn't worry too much atm. 5 pumps is not excessive to surround a decent moor fire and once contained it's pretty labour intensive so numbers are needed. It's pretty rare for these fires to get out of control once resources are on it.

Setting fire to the hills of South Wales appears to be an annual activity for the local chavs.
