The MTB has a HT2 BB and I know what that fits. The road Bb is still square taper. What else goes into a "standard" BB shell?
BB30 for example? I assume press fit things go into the frame so won't fit my frame.
Too many choices now.
If you currently have a square taper then you will either have a 68mm British thread or a 70mm Italian thread bottom bracket. Bb30 and all other press fit bb's will not fit. You need the appropriate threaded bb either ht2, fsa megaexo, SRAM gxp/power spline, shimano octalink or another square taper depending g on what cranks you are using.

Are Shimano BB30 cranks compatible with 'standard' (screw-in) hollowtech HT2 bottom brackets (and vice versa)?
Bb30 is a 30 axle. Ht2 is a 24mm axle. You can get adapters to make a ht2 fit bb30 but not the other way round. FYI shimano don't make bb30 cranks.
e13 and rotor (i think) sell bb30 screw in bottom brackets that will fit your 'standard'
