Had the chance to try a Bos Vip'r shock today on my heckler. Considering the cost of these it wasn't great. Sounded constantly asthmatic and made a banging noise on landing the smallest drop offs. Anyone else tried one? Maybe mine was just a dodgy one.

I rated mine very highly and it never did anything like you describe so maybe the unit you tried was faulty?

It's not a damper for everyone mind. It's pretty heavily damped and doesn't like to let a bike use its travel too greedily. I always said it would really well with the Devile fork but perhaps feel unbalanced with a RS or Fox fork. But it offers great support in the mid-range so you can set sag correctly and not worry about blowing through the mid stroke.

Mine is totally silent without any clunking noises.

You didn't have the TRC lever halfway did you? I ask because this is supposed to cause big issues.
