26ers work in 29ers. So I can't see why not. More puncture prone maybe? It'd save a wee bit of weight in the bag, and find a use for the five 24" tubes a bike shop sent me by accident a few years ago.

No seriously, it'll be fine. I used to go out with 24, 26 and 29 wheels and a 26 tube was sufficient to get home on 24. 24 to 29 was too much of a stretch for me to risk it with two kids.
