I need to bleed my rear brake after shortening the hose and routing it through my swingarm. Anyway, I don’t really want to spend £18 on a bleed kit as I already have enough hose, syringes etc to do the job. The Hayes instructions mention an insert which pushes into the bleed port on the lever so you can attach a hose and catch the fluid flushing through. Has anyone come up with a good bodge or got a Hayes part I could purchase? Short on time so any ideas appreciated.
I've not used one when pushing excess fluid out of systems, as long as you remove the reservoir cap, the fluid should seep out... though this could be very messy if you trying to bleed the system.
I know you could buy the insert seperately but I can't locate the website, email hotlines?
Use if you have one the adaptors you can get to blow up a football, basketball etc etc, just attach it on the clear hose!
I used a spare compression olive like this.
Depends if your hose will stretch over the wide bit though, mine did.
