Let's keep this simple, should I buy a bleed kit or get my LBS to bleed the Avid disc brakes on my 2011 specialised FSR?
Buy a bleed kit.
Watch the tutorial on Pinkbike.
It's simple enough.
Buy a kit,it's easy if you follow the instructions, these work for me http://www.pinkbike.com/news/tech-tuesday-bleeding-avid-brakes-2010.html
Bleeding Avid's
that what i said when i had to bleed the GF's....
£20 for the LBS to do it against £12 for a bleed kit and the above video tutorials and the satisfaction from doing it yourself...
If you can afford it, the Avid Professional Kit is much better. To bleed Avids, you need to create a vacuum with the syringe and the syringes in the Professional kit are so much better than the standard ones. The better the vacuum you can create the better the bleed.
Its what most people say trying to sort them out before buying another pair of brakes.Bleeding Avid's
The easiest way of doing an Avid bleed is called buying a set of Shimano XT M785 brakes and throwing the Avids into the bin.
Hey if you all hate your Avids so much don't throw them into the bin give them to me, i love mine, pad change and bleeding a doddle and enough power and modulation to keep me happy.
Think it's maybe cool to dislike Avid at the moment.
At least the OP got some sensible answers before the bullshit started.
